Okay, so you made a mistake.
Initially, you realized the earthquake effects—you have an issue with the person(s) involved and your friendship is now strained. But soon after you see there are aftershock effects as well—your circle of friends, although innocent bystanders, are now uneasy.
When this occurs, apologize to the parties involved and try to keep peace with everyone. But don’t continue to apologize if things don’t return to the way they used to be.
