This morning someone dropped a few things on the floor at my local deli; my first reaction was to help him pick up the items.
Another person, who looked liked me, also jumped in to assist. But as I got up I noticed something: the clumsy man never moved. He stood over us as we cleaned his mess, and he never said a word.
I walked out the deli upset, thinking all kinds of things. “Did he think we were his servants?” “Why did we automatically help—are we programmed to help while others watch?”
After reflecting, I realized that my negativity was worthless. I am who I am so I helped. I won’t let others affect me because of their ignorance.
